[en] This article analyses the troubadour Giraut de Bornelh's reference to the design of a gem made of tin and the colour blue, in relation to the gemstones and the crafts of twelfth-century Limousin and surrounding regions. The discussion includes the symbolism of tin and of blue, with reference to heraldry, patronage and lapidaries.
