[en] We successfully used the Flipped Classroom model in the Bachelor in Educational Sciences for eight years in our Mathematics Education courses in the first year. This innovative method reverses the traditional teacher-centred paradigm by shifting content delivery outside the classroom, allowing students to engage deeply with the material at their own pace, as well as teachers to dedicate precious in-person class time to interactive and application-based activities.
By leveraging technology to deliver instructional content (i.e., (self-produced) videos, forum entries, book chapters, or articles) asynchronously, we can optimise face-to-face sessions for collaborative discussions, problem-solving, and personalised feedback. This approach promotes active student engagement, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of pedagogical concepts. The Flipped Classroom not only fosters a learner-centred environment but also cultivates the essential skills required for effective transformational teaching, thus nurturing a new generation of educators equipped with the skills, adaptability, and creativity needed for student success in the dynamic landscape of education.
