[en] Background. Due to its importance in providing and promoting sports activities, physical education is seen as a key resource to counteract the continuing reduction of children’s physical activity.
Objectives. Based on self-determination theory, the objectives are … to measure children’s physical activity during physical education and leisure time, to analyse how motivation is transferred from physical education to leisure time. Method. Accelerometers and questionnaires are used to measure physical activity and motivation of students during physical education and leisure time. Expected outcomes. Results will give insights into the role of physical education for children’s physi-cal activity behavior and motivation. Substantial impact on political debates are expected. Costs. The project cost will be 347k€ out of which are 310k€ staff costs.. | |
