[en] This paper explores how definitions and perceptions of the human are reshaped and extended through their interactions with technology, science and machines. It focuses on petrol stations as an example of ‘cyborg-places’, in which human interactions are replaced or supplemented by machines, such as automatized electronic tills and surveillance cameras. Drawing on Augé’s theory of non-places and Haraway’s metaphor of the cyborg, the presentation examines how such spaces are experienced, produced, and represented (Lefebvre) in filmed media.
