Doctoral students at the University of Luxembourg are welcome to attend workshops on open science practice twice per year:
- 19 - 21 October 2026: International Open Access week. Students should register via Moodle. Theme for the week is 'The Cost of Knowledge'.
- March 2027 (exact dates to be confirmed): Love My Data week. The dates will be confirmed in October 2026.
The workshops consists of two half days and some course work that should be completed before and after the workshops. Complete attendance and completion of course work is required to gain the certification and points.
Sample agenda:
- Introduction to Open Science
- Introduction to Open Access
- Introduction to Research Data Management (RDM)
- Introduction to the funder: FNR of Luxembourg, and their policies of open science, open access and research data management
- A lecture by an experienced professor and their open practices
- Discussion on publishing practices, repositories, data management etc.
- Discussion on your own open practices and research project
- A practical exercise on writing a DMP (this is also coursework to be completed)
- Short videos on how to search for literature, metadata in RDM, the publishing industry etc.
The courses are held in lecture halls and the Luxembourg Learning Centre learning hub.
