Abstract :
[en] The present research aimed at finding how the widespread adoption of AI interventions could impact everlasting problems observed in the justice sector, including the backlog of cases resulting in the delays of trials; the insufficient, untimely, and/or inconclusive information to citizens regarding courts and court proceedings, and; the interferences with the independence and impartiality of judges. Therefore, the research asked “how can AI-driven reforms of the judicial administration of EU Member State courts affect access to justice?” This question entailed several aspects, including discovering the current (AI) digitalization reforms of EU Member States’ courts; determining how the judicial administration of national courts is or can be augmented by AI systems; assessing the impact of AI systems for the augmentation of judicial administration under an access to justice normative framework, and; placing the findings of the empirical and normative research in the general context of the AI-based digitalization of justice in the EU.
