KEYNOTE : L’IGEB et la recherche sur la musique pour instruments à vent : parcours historique et enjeux contemporain

The International Society for Research and Promotion Wind Music (IGEB) has played a crucial role in the development of wind music research since its creation in 1974. Now in its fiftieth year, the IGEB has helped to structure and promote studies in this field, which is often overlooked and neglected by traditional musicology. Over the decades, the IGEB has actively sought to change this perception by organising conferences, publishing and encouraging exchanges between researchers from all over the world, thereby helping to legitimise this field of study.
Contemporary issues in wind music research include the exploration of its rich history, dating back to prehistoric times, concerning research on wind instruments (brass, woodwind, etc.), and the analysis of specific playing techniques. At the beginning of its existence, research focused on historiographical and organological topics. Nowadays, researchers are also interested in the role of music education, sociological issues, the repertoire and future challenges.============
============== La Société internationale pour la recherche et la promotion de la musique à vent (IGEB) a joué un rôle crucial dans l'évolution de la recherche sur la musique pour instruments à vent depuis sa création en 1974. Société cinquantenaire, l'IGEB a permis de structurer et de promouvoir les études dans ce domaine, souvent méconnu et négligé par la musicologie traditionnelle. Au fil des décennies, l'IGEB a cherché activement à changer cette perception en organisant des conférences, en publiant des ouvrages et en encourageant les échanges entre chercheurs du monde entier, contribuant ainsi à légitimer ce champ d'étude.
Les enjeux contemporains de la recherche sur la musique pour instruments à vent incluent l'exploration de son histoire riche, remontant même à la préhistoire, concernant la recherche sur les instruments à vent (cuivres, bois, etc.), et l'analyse des techniques de jeu spécifiques. Au début de son existence, les recherches portaient sur des thématiques historiographiques et organologiques. Entretemps, les chercheurs s'intéressent également au rôle de l'éducation musicale, aux thématiques sociologiques, au répertoire et aux défis futurs.
