Abstract :
[en] This text provides a historical review based on the research experience of the author. It engages and describes the role of multilingualism and multimodality in critical sociolinguistic research since the 1990s and sheds light on epistemological changes as they occurred in language-oriented research (particularly in new literacy studies) since the years 2000. The article continues discussing work by contributing authors to the present collection, which articulate new approaches combining perspectives on multilingualism and multimodality.
