Abstract :
[en] Money must be one of the most successful human creations in terms of its extension and massiveness. Its forms, however, are multiple. For instance, we are witnessing today a cryptocurrency boom that threatens to render physical money obsolete. But, as this article sharply shows, no matter how digital a cryptocurrency is, its creation has physical effects on a massive scale, especially in terms of energy consumption and carbon footprint.
