[en] Since the beginning of the 15th century, glassmaking has been one of the most important and dynamic production sectors in the Greater Region. Located in the heart of Europe and divided between German and French influences, the glassworks represented (and still represent today) a major geopolitical stake. Despite conditions made difficult by successive wars and border shifts, some of the most important glass and crystal factories in Europe in terms of size, activity and innovation were created from the 18th century onwards. [de] Seit Beginn des 15. Jahrhunderts ist die Glasherstellung einer der wichtigsten und dynamischsten Produktionszweige in der Großregion. Im Herzen Europas gelegen und zwischen deutschen und französischen Einflüssen geteilt, waren die Glashütten ein wichtiger geopolitischer Faktor (und sind es noch heute). Trotz der durch Kriege und Grenzverschiebungen erschwerten Bedingungen entstanden ab dem 18. Jahrhundert einige der in Bezug auf Größe, Aktivität und Innovation bedeutendsten Glas- und Kristallfabriken Europas.
