[fr] L’intégration du pentathlon moderne au programme des Jeux olympiques en 1912 s’est développée sous le poids de plusieurs facteurs, parmi lesquels les voix suédoises et françaises ont joué un rôle significatif. L’article s’attache notamment à l’influence française à partir de deux ap-proches complémentaires analysant la préparation et la mise en scène du premier pentathlon moderne olympique à Stockholm entre 1909 et 1912. Il s’appuie essentiellement sur des sources im-primées françaises et internationales collectées au Comité national olympique et sportif français (CNOSF), y compris les documents de la Fédération française de pentathlon moderne (FFPM), à la Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF), au Centre d’études olympiques du CIO (CEO) à Lausanne et aux Riksarkivet (Archives nationales) de Suède à Stockholm. La France apparaît avoir joué un rôle important dans les origines du pentathlon moderne olympique, un rôle cependant affaibli par les succès sportifs et organisationnels de la Suède.
[en] Several factors contributed to the integration of the modern pentathlon in the Olympic program in 1912 with Swedish and French voices playing a significant role. This paper focuses specifically on the French impact on the modern pentathlon with a twofold approach, which explores both the preparation and the staging of the first modern Olympic pentathlon in Stockholm between 1909 and 1912. It is primarily based on French and international sources from the Comité nation-al olympique et sportif français (CNOSF), including documents of the Fédération française de pentathlon moderne (FFPM), the Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF), the IOC Olympic studies centres (OSC) in Lausanne and the Riksarkivet (national archives) of Sweden in Stockholm. France appears to have played a dominant role in the early hours of the modern pentathlon. This role was, however, undermined by Swedish sports and organizational successes.
[de] Bei der Aufnahme des modernen Fünfkampfes in das Programm der Olympischen Spiele von 1912 haben unter anderen Faktoren die schwedischen und französischen Stimmen eine bedeu-tende Rolle gespielt. Ausgehend von zwei komplementären Ansätzen beleuchtet der vorliegen-de Artikel besonders den französischen Einfluss, wenn er die Vorbereitung und die Inszenierung des ersten modernen Fünfkampfes bei den Olympischen Spielen in Stockholm zwischen 1909 und 1912 analysiert. Er stützt sich im Wesentlichen auf gedruckte französische und internationa-le Quellen, die beim Comité national olympique et sportif français (CNOSF), einschließlich der Dokumente der Fédération française de pentathlon moderne (FFPM), in der Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF), im Centre d’études olympiques des IOC (CEO) in Lausanne und im Riksarkivet (Nationalarchiv) von Schweden in Stockholm gesammelt sind. Es zeigt sich, dass Frankreich eine wichtige Rolle beim Ursprung des modernen Fünfkampfes gespielt hat; eine Rolle, die jedoch durch den sportlichen und organisatorischen Erfolg Schwedens gemindert wurde.
