Elfriede Jelineks "Die Schutzbefohlenen" als Teil einer dynamischen Werkkategorie: Zur literarischen Theatertradition in der Medienkultur

On the basis of Elfriede Jelinek's theatre text Charges (The Supplicants) and taking as a starting point interaction between social and aesthetic drama as well as the social and political function of literature, this paper analyses the performativity and the potentiality of the means of production and reception of texts in current media. An examination of the latter provides not only the technological contexts for communication and possibilities of the related period of production but also the inter- dependence of formal, structural and media transformations of the literary and theatrical production.
