[en] This contribution argues that Schlingensief´s art project Container staged in 2000 in Vienna can be read as a countercultural unbordering due to its postdramatic theatrical setting. First, an overview of social criticism in theatre, both in terms of form and content, from the Age of Enlightenment to the 1960s demonstrates that Schlingensief´s art project Container can well be located within the theatrical tradition leaning towards social criticism. This is followed by an analysis of Schlingen-sief´s Container in relation to the socio-political context at the time. Finally, this contribution shows how artistic countercultural events as part of postdramatic theatre are inextricably linked to the unbordering of the theatrical setting.
