Abstract :
[en] The history of the National Telecommunications Network for Technology, Education and Research, born in 1993, had its roots in the 1980s, when scientific actors started to build networks in France, in a simultaneous but still dispersed way. From the beginning, Renater was original: local initiatives preceded the implementation of a national infrastructure that became part of world exchanges.
