International open access week 21-25 Oct 2024


International Open Access Week is celebrated all around the world each year. This year the University of Luxembourg will join forced towards the goal to prioritise approaches to open scholarship that serve the best interests of the academic community and members of the public. 

During the week in October we aim to raise the awareness and motivate our UL researchers around open access and open science in academia. We look forward to seeing you there!

Open science and academia – a glance at the future, guest seminar delivered by Prof. Nicolas Fressengeas, followed by a networking mixer event in Café Saga.This event is open to all researchers in Luxembourg.  Read further below.

PhD students from Department of Law are welcome to attend the workshops on any other day.

 

Guest Seminar + Networking Mixer: 'Open science and academia - a glance at the future.' Speaker: Prof. Nicolas Fressengeas, Vice President University of Lorraine.

 

This is a registration only event. You may register to attend in-person, online, and for the free networking mixer in Cafe Saga. Individuals will be sent a confirmation in due course.

Format

This one-hour seminar will be followed by a short networking event with a selection of drinks and food in Café Saga.

Abstract

There are many interlinked initiatives that affect the future of research and innovation landscape, most of them embedded in Open Science. How will these initiatives influence research and academia? This seminar will provide information about the UNESCO framework for open science and how the embedded principles drive the international Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA) to align research objectives and evaluations. The seminar will bring awareness on the ongoing dialogue in relation to open science principles in the current academic landscape and beyond. 

Speaker

Prof. Nicolas Fressengeas. Professor, and Vice President, at Université de Lorraine, Adviser on Open Science to the Ministère de l'Enseignement supérieur, de la Recherche et de l'Innovation [MESRI] (France), and a key contributor to the UNESCO open science framework and forthcoming indicators.
