Abstract :
[en] This chapter aims to address the connections of the youth-migration-inclusion nexus in the context of young migrants (18–29) living in Luxembourg. In Europe, specifically in Luxembourg, young non-EU migrants (18–29) face higher risks of exclusion and poverty compared to local youth with fewer employment chances. Yet, this chapter acknowledges that young migrants are important actors in creating inclusive societies and tackling future societal challenges, especially in Luxembourg, where half of the population is foreign. The chapter analyses qualitative data provided by the Horizon Europe project MIMY of young migrants with public visibility (N = 7) to verify the youth-migration-inclusion nexus. It examines the experiences of non-EU migrant youth with public visibility (e.g., in politics, business, or sport) in Luxembourg, analysing structural barriers for migrant youth hindering equal opportunities, but also their future ideas to promote an inclusive society in Luxembourg. The chapter suggests that the links between youth, migration, and inclusion need to be recognized and further promoted by increasing migrant youth participation, but also cross-sectoral collaboration (specifically between youth policies and migration/integration policies). This chapter concludes by providing five recommendations to strengthen the interlinkages for a transformational youth migrant’s inclusion change and increase their participation in societal life in order to reduce inequalities of migrant youth living in Luxembourg.
