Abstract :
[en] This work questions the link between bilingualism and the expression of emotions: are they felt the same way? Is one language more appropriate to express emotions than another? Is the L1 necessarily the “language of the heart”? Does it depend on the emotion perceived? This work reviews some definitions in the domains involved (Second Language Acquisition, Psychology, Psychanalysis) then proceeds to explain the factors and situations favoring the use of one language over another to express emotions. It links these questions to the French as a Second Language public and what teachers need to consider when dealing with that public. Afterwards, we go over the methodology used to gather information and then we analyze the data collected. At the end, we explain the limits to our study and bring up some important points we could not mention in the work.
