Abstract :
[en] The article discusses the evolution of music education, particularly focusing on solfège, and describes a possible change from traditional content-based pedagogy to a competency-based approach. It highlights the importance of developing pupils' abilities to create, perform, and respond to music effectively. The article claims for a balanced integration of content and competence, suggesting that both can coexist to enhance the educational experience. It emphasises that solfège, a fundamental aspect of music learning, can be taught more effectively through a competency-based framework, allowing children to learn at their own pace with guidance from teachers. The article further criticises conventional methods that prioritise rote learning over musicality, advocating for a more engaging and creative learning environment that fosters a deeper understanding of music and encourages students to construct own knowledge through practical application. Overall, it calls for a comprehensive approach to music education that prioritises both skills and content.
