Abstract :
[en] The presence and influence of women in international relations and diplomacy is a subject that has received little attention in contemporary historiography. In this context, and given the absence of systematic archival sources, oral history not only represents a new and original source; it is also the most appropriate way of elucidating the role of female figures in European and international relations in Luxembourg after the Second World War.

Europe Direct at the University of Luxembourg (ED-UNILU) is a competitive public history project co-funded by the European Union - Ares (2021-2025) 5501634, which the is geared towards a broad multicultural and multilingual audience, with the aim of informing citizens about the past, present and future of the European Union and contributing to the development of teaching and research on European integration in Luxembourg. The ED-UNILU is coordinated by the Luxembourg interdisciplinary Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (C²DH) and managed by Dr Elena Danescu, Research Scientist at the C²DH.
The Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (C2DH), together with the European University Institute (Florence, Italy) and the Max Planck Institute for Legal History and Legal Theory (Frankfurt am Main, Germany), organises this Summer School to explore methods of oral history and to test digital tools, while it pays attention to how digital sources may shape narratives in contemporary European history.
The Summer School is geared at PhD candidates as well as postdoctoral students specialising in European History / European studies, who use oral history in their research. The programme tackles the main stages in the production, uses, and archiving of oral history interviews through a set of transversal workshops, presentations, and roundtable discussions with experts. The Summer School is enriched by hands-on activities, in which participants will test the discussed tools and methods. Students will have the opportunity to present their research projects and to receive feedback from their peers and experts. In addition, the participants are offered a guided visit to the European Parliament.
