Abstract :
[en] The technological path to an autonomous vehicle has made considerable progress in recent years. Car manufacturers such as Tesla, Mercedes-Benz, BMW and others, as well as companies that primarily operate a different core business (example: robot taxis from Waymo/Google), are promoting the development of semi-autonomous and fully autonomous vehicles, in some cases very massively through targeted investments. The test vehicles that can be seen on the roads and the assistance systems that exist in new vehicles make future driving appear more and more like driving with a "thinking partner". Systems that independently keep or change lanes, park or adaptively adjust speed are almost a matter of course. The "thinking partner" already allows the vehicle to brake independently in the event of danger or warns the driver if obstacles are encountered.
