Abstract :
[en] Housing policies and housing markets drive some of the biggest inequalities in modern society. These inequalities go beyond the accumulation of housing wealth to affect life chances in general: educational and job opportunities, generational opportunities, and even the ease with which people can start a family. This talk examines the ways in which governmental policy interacts with housing to produce the economic and social inequalities we see today. It also introduces the PROPEL project (PROactive Policymaking for Equal Lives), funded by an FNR ATTRACT grant. PROPEL studies the politics of housing and seeks to generate policy options that promote equality.
