Abstract :
[en] This article describes the process of abolishing the guilds in Virton, outlining the motivations and, above all, the modus operandi of the French authorities. It then looks at the reactions to the abolition of the guilds among some craftsmen, and presents the consequences of entrepreneurial freedom as a substitute for the corporate economic system.
