Abstract :
[de] Graf Peter-Ernst von Mansfeld hat als Statthalter der spanischen Krone im 16. Jahrhundert mit dem Bau des Schlosses „La Fontaine“ den Luxemburger Stadtteil Clausen bis heute geprägt. Doch nach jahrhundertelanger Transformation konnte zuletzt nur noch ein kundiges Auge die wenigen Überreste mit dem ehemals prächtigen Renaissanceschloss und seinem Park in Verbindung setzen.
In „Mansfeld Revisited“ präsentieren zehn Beiträge den aktuellen Forschungsstand und Vergleiche mit Schlossanlagen aus Belgien, Frankreich und Österreich, um Perspektiven für die zukünftige Gestaltung und Nutzung des Areals in Clausen zu entwickeln. Ein Bericht vom des internationalen Symposiums in Luxemburg im Jahr 2022 fasst ergänzend die Ergebnisse der Diskussionen zusammen. [fr] Gouverneur du Luxembourg au service de la couronne d’Espagne au XVIe siècle, le comte Pierre-Ernest de Mansfeld a marqué de son empreinte le quartier de Clausen à Luxembourg par la construction du château « La Fontaine ». Pourtant, après des siècles de transformations, seul un œil averti peut encore déceler, dans les quelques vestiges qui subsistent, le magnifique château Renaissance et son parc d’autrefois.
Dans « Mansfeld Revisited », dix contributions dressent le bilan actuel de la recherche mais aussi comparent le site de Clausen avec des châteaux en Belgique, France et Autriche, afin de proposer des perspectives pour son aménagement et sa destination future. À ces contributions s’ajoute le rapport des discussions tenues lors du congrès international de Luxembourg en 2022. But after centuries of transformation, only an educated eye can still connect the few remains on site with the once magnificent Renaissance palace and parkland.
In Mansfeld Revisited, ten contributions present the current state of the research and draw comparisons with palaces in Belgium, France and Austria to develop perspectives on the future design and use of the Clausen site. They are complemented by a report summarising the outcome of the discussions held at the 2022 international symposium in Luxembourg.
