[fr] Le découpage administratif de la Grande Région (2008 : 65 398 km², 11,4 mio. habitants) n’est pas homogène. Les différents secteurs de la Grande Région ont des statuts différents : Le Grand-duché de Luxembourg est un Etat souverain, la Wallonie est une région de la Belgique, la Lorraine était jusqu'au fin 2015 une des 26 régions de la France, est dès 1.10.2016 part de la nouvelle région Grand Est, la Rhénanie-Palatinat et la Sarre sont des Länder allemands. La taille et le nombre d’habitants des communes ainsi que leurs compétences diffèrent nettement les unes des autres, notamment du fait qu’aucune réforme communale n’a eu lieu en France, mais aussi en raison des différentes structures politiques et économiques.
[en] The administrative division of the Greater Region (2008: 65,398 km², 11.4 million inhabitants) is not homogeneous. The different areas of the Grande Région have different statuses: The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg is a sovereign state, Wallonia is a region of Belgium, Lorraine was until the end of 2015 one of the 26 regions of France, is from 1.10.2016 part of the new region Grand Est, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland are German Länder. The size and number of inhabitants of the municipalities as well as their competences differ significantly from each other, not least because there has been no municipal reform in France, but also because of the different political and economic structures.
[de] Die administrative Gliederung der Großregion (2008: 65.398 km², 11,4 Mio. Einwohner) ist nicht einheitlich. Die verschiedenen Teile der Großregion haben einen unterschiedlichen Status : Das Großherzogtum Luxemburg ist ein souveräner Staat, Wallonien ist eine Region Belgiens, Lothringen war bis Ende 2015 eine der 26 Regionen Frankreichs, ist ab 1.10.2016 Teil der neuen Region Grand Est, Rheinland-Pfalz und das Saarland sind deutsche Bundesländer. Die Größe und Einwohnerzahl der Gemeinden sowie ihre Zuständigkeiten unterscheiden sich deutlich voneinander, was unter anderem daran liegt, dass in Frankreich keine Gemeindereform stattgefunden hat, aber auch an den unterschiedlichen politischen und wirtschaftlichen Strukturen.
