It has given us analytical tools to discuss regional topics, not only in what respects to Latin American specificity but also regarding a methodological approach of capitalism's development. There have been significant controversies around this author and his work. The main purpose of this essay is to inquiry Dialéctica de la dependencia so as to learn its limits and potentialities by punctiliously reading it, taking into account those elements which seem problematic to the internal consistency of this work. In addition, matters which relate to Latin America specificity but are not present in the original text are considered, such as ground rent.
