[en] The aim of the doctoral thesis was to give an answer to the question of how important equestrian traffic was for official communication in and out of urban areas, as well as to identify mobility behaviours of municipal administrative staff acting on behalf of the city. In order to conduct the following study the account books of the city of Luxembourg were used as source base; they encompass the period between 1388 and 1500. [de] Die Doktorarbeit beschäftigt sich mit der städtischen Vernetzung im Raum, die durch das Boten- und Gesandtschaftswesen und den damit verbundenen Reitverkehr begünstigt wurde. Die Quellengrundlage bilden die spätmittelalterlichen Rechnungsbücher der Stadt Luxemburg (1388-1500) sowie auch Stadtrechnungen aus Aachen, Duisburg, Köln, Metz, Mons und Trier, die sowohl qualitativ als auch quantitativ auswertet wurden. Einen besonderen Fokus legt die Arbeit auf das Reisemittel Pferd, das als Mobilitätsgarant im interurbanen Dialog im Spätmittelalter zunehmend an Bedeutung gewinnt, insbesondere durch die selektive Zucht gangveranlagter Reisepferde (Zelter und Hackeneien). Die Arbeit beantwortet sowohl Fragen nach der Verfügbarkeit und der Effizienz sowie der Reichweite des Boten- und Gesandtschaftswesens zu Pferde als auch der städtischen Pferdehaltung und der Maßnahmen zur Gewährleistung des innerstädtischen Reitverkehrs.
