[en] In the framework of the research project "Pierre Werner and Europe", interview with René Steichen, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SES (the Société européenne des satellites), carried out by the Centre Virtuel de la Connaissance sur l’Europe (CVCE) on 1 June 2010 at the château de Sanem. The interview was conducted by Dr Elena Danescu, a Researcher at the CVCE, and particularly focuses on the following subjects: the statesman Pierre Werner, the revival of the research policy in Luxembourg in the 1980s, the reform of Luxembourg agriculture (1984–1992), Steichen’s activities at the European Commission, the establishment of the Société européenne des satellites and the diversification of the Luxembourg economy, and Luxembourg’s role in the European integration process. | |
