Abstract :
[en] Renewable energy sources coupled with flexible technologies are essential for mitigating climate change and reducing dependence on import fuels. Joint operation of such resources can enable stable transition to a green and renewable energy system. This paper considers a plant consisting of a battery storage, an electrolyzer, and a photovoltaic power plant, connected to the electric power system, where it can inject and extract power, and to the hydrogen system, where it can inject hydrogen. It can trade in both the power and the hydrogen day-ahead markets and can provide balancing services to both system operators. Providing balancing services in either of the two systems creates an impact on the other system, primarily causing an imbalance. This paper presents an accurate model of such plant and analyzes interaction between the two energy vectors.
