Abstract :
[en] This communication was given in the context of the launch of a new book of saint Willibrord, archbishop of Utrecht and fouder of the abbey of Echternach (obit 739). This book, édite by the Luxembourg School of Religion and Society, is a comic strip, purporting to relate the life and career of Willibrord. The him of my presentation was to provide a lay audience with informations about the nature of the main narrative sources on Willibrord, i.e. hagiographical sources, and about what we know of their authors' agenda. These sources (extracts from Bede's Historia ecclesiastical written ca. 730 and the Life of Willibrord by Alcuin, written ca. 795) have been extremely influential in shaping the perception we have of the saint. The text of this contribution will be developped into an online publication.
