Abstract :
[en] This study is about the art and history in Luxembourg from 1934-1944. This decade where Luxembourg was occupied by Nazi Germany from 1940 to 1944, has not yet been represented focusing on the visuals arts facing the national socialist oppressions and propaganda due to the tabooization of these years. After an incipient view about the development of the arts in Luxembourg during the 1930’s, the influence of the german propaganda through the Gesellschaft für Deutsche Literatur und Kunst and about the reception of the Nazi art politics in the Luxembourgish press, the national-socilalist politics of art culture and the effects on the Luxembourgish art scene are presented. during the occupation by the Hitler State. The aim is to gain a particular view about the germanisation of Luxembourgish art, artists and cultural institutions while Luxembourg had become a part of Gau Moselland. The themes pictured by the artists are analyzed in a way to show the propagandistic value of the caracteristics of a « regional » art for national-socialist art politics. Two Major questions are examined : How the artists dealed with the political and social upheavals in their country and : Were collaboration or resistance the only options to face the cultural oppressions of the Nazis ?
