We present the corotational cut Finite Element Method (FEM) for real-time surgical simulation. The only requirement of the proposed method is a background mesh, which is not necessarily conforming to the boundaries/interfaces of the simulated object. The details of the surface, which can be directly obtained from binary images, are taken into account by a multilevel embedding algorithm which is applied to elements of the background mesh that are cut by the surface. Dirichlet boundary conditions can be implicitly imposed on the surface using Lagrange multipliers, whereas traction or Neumann boundary conditions, which is/are applied on parts of the surface, can be distributed to the background nodes using shape functions. The implementation is verified by convergences studies, of the geometry and of numerical solutions, which exhibit optimal rates. To verify the reliability of the method, it is applied to various needle insertion simulations (e.g. for biopsy or brachytherapy) into brain and liver models. The numerical results show that, while retaining the accuracy of the standard FEM, the proposed method can (1) make the discretisation independent from geometric description, (2) avoid the complexity of mesh generation for complex geometries, and (3) provide computational speed suitable for real-time simulations. Thereby, the proposed method is very suitable for patient-specific simulations as it improves the simulation accuracy by automatically, and properly, taking the simulated geometry into account, while keeping the low computational cost. Background: Code is repetitive and predictable in a way that is similar to the natural language. This means that code is ``natural'' and this ``naturalness'' can be captured by natural language modelling techniques. Such models promise to capture the program semantics and identify source code parts that `smell', i.e., they are strange, badly written and are generally error-prone (likely to be defective). Aims: We investigate the use of natural language modelling techniques in mutation testing (a testing technique that uses artificial faults). We thus, seek to identify how well artificial faults simulate real ones and ultimately understand how natural the artificial faults can be. %We investigate this question in a fault revelation perspective. Our intuition is that natural mutants, i.e., mutants that are predictable (follow the implicit coding norms of developers), are semantically useful and generally valuable (to testers). We also expect that mutants located on unnatural code locations (which are generally linked with error-proneness) to be of higher value than those located on natural code locations. Method: Based on this idea, we propose mutant selection strategies that rank mutants according to a) their naturalness (naturalness of the mutated code), b) the naturalness of their locations (naturalness of the original program statements) and c) their impact on the naturalness of the code that they apply to (naturalness differences between original and mutated statements). We empirically evaluate these issues on a benchmark set of 5 open-source projects, involving more than 100k mutants and 230 real faults. Based on the fault set we estimate the utility (i.e. capability to reveal faults) of mutants selected on the basis of their naturalness, and compare it against the utility of randomly selected mutants. Results: Our analysis shows that there is no link between naturalness and the fault revelation utility of mutants. We also demonstrate that the naturalness-based mutant selection performs similar (slightly worse) to the random mutant selection. Conclusions: Our findings are negative but we consider them interesting as they confute a strong intuition, i.e., fault revelation is independent of the mutants' naturalness. [less ▲]

TCP has become an integral part of the Autosar communication stack located immediately below the Socket Adaptor layer. There are numerous use-cases for TCP in automotive networks. First TCP can be leveraged on by many higher-level protocols be it for diagnostic (DoIp), calibration protocols (XCP), service-oriented communications (SomeIP), FTP and HTTP transfer, or more specialized tasks like protocols for the control of electric vehicle charging. In addition, communication through standard TCP sockets simplifies the development and re-use of applications requiring reliable transmissions within the vehicle or with external end-systems (car2x, cloud-based services).If previous works focused on throughput as performance criterion, we here also consider the communication latencies and memory usage in the end-systems and switches. The first question explored by simulation is to quantify the importance of TCP configuration choices in the latencies that can be achieved with TCP. In particular, it is shown that turning off Nagle's algorithm in transmission and delayed acknowledgment in reception as Autosar is very beneficial in terms of latencies but at the expense of throughput. We then extend the experiments to integrate the interactions between the Socket Adaptor and TCP layers. Finally, we study the performance of TCP streams as part of a complete automotive TSN case-study made up of control traffic, audio/video streams and best-effort traffic to evaluate the impact of higher priority traffic classes on TCP streams throughput and delays. The contribution of this work is twofold. First, we draw up a panorama of the TCP features and configuration options available in Autosar. Second, through experiments on models increasingly close to an implementation, we provide quantified insights in what we can expect from TCP in terms of latencies and throughput with the different configuration options available to us. Progress in the atomic-scale modeling of matter over the past decade has been tremendous. This progress has been brought about by improvements in methods for evaluating interatomic forces that work by either solving the electronic structure problem explicitly, or by computing accurate approximations of the solution and by the development of techniques that use the Born–Oppenheimer (BO) forces to move the atoms on the BO potential energy surface. As a consequence of these developments it is now possible to identify stable or metastable states, to sample configurations consistent with the appropriate thermodynamic ensemble, and to estimate the kinetics of reactions and phase transitions. All too often, however, progress is slowed down by the bottleneck associated with implementing new optimization algorithms and/or sampling techniques into the many existing electronic-structure and empirical-potential codes. To address this problem, we are thus releasing a new version of the i-PI software. This piece of software is an easily extensible framework for implementing advanced atomistic simulation techniques using interatomic potentials and forces calculated by an external driver code. While the original version of the code (Ceriotti et al., 2014) was developed with a focus on path integral molecular dynamics techniques, this second release of i-PI not only includes several new advanced path integral methods, but also offers other classes of algorithms. In other words, i-PI is moving towards becoming a universal force engine that is both modular and tightly coupled to the driver codes that evaluate the potential energy surface and its derivatives. Rund jeder zehnte Schüler ist nach eigenen Angaben nie körperlich aktiv, rund jeder sechste ist hingegen an 7 Stunden oder häufiger pro Woche aktiv. Im internationalen Vergleich sind die luxemburgischen Schüler überdurchschnittlich häufig körperlich aktiv. Allerdings nimmt die Aktivität im Laufe der Jugend ab und bestimmte Gruppen sind aktiver als andere: Jungen sind in allen Altersgruppen aktiver als Mädchen und Kinder aus wohlhabenden Familien sind aktiver als Kinder aus nicht wohlhabenden Familien. In der Kindheit und Jugend gemobbt zu werden ist ein Risikofaktor für schlechtere Schulleistungen, aber langfristig auch für Angststörungen im Erwachsenenalter. Daher wurde in der HBSC-Studie 2014 gefragt, wie häufig die Schüler in den vergangenen Monaten in der Schule gemobbt wurden. 73 % waren nicht von Mobbing betroffen, 16 % wurden 1- bis 2-mal gemobbt und 11 % wurden mindestens 2-mal pro Monat gemobbt. Ältere Schüler waren seltener Opfer von Mobbing als jüngere Schüler, wobei Jungen und Mädchen in allen Altersgruppen ähnlich häufig betroffen waren. Dementsprechend waren die Schüler des Fondamental und des Modulaire häufiger betroffen als die Schüler des Secondaire technique und des Secondaire. Schüler, die aus Familien mit einem geringen Wohlstandsniveau stammen, waren häufiger Mobbingopfer als Schüler aus wohlhabenden Familien. Mit der Häufigkeit des Mobbings sinkt die Lebenszufriedenheit und die Zahl der Gesundheitsbeschwerden steigt. [less ▲]

Getrennt nach Alter und Geschlecht zeigen sich kaum Unterschiede im wahrgenommenen Klassenklima. Allerdings bewerten Schüler des Fondamental und des Secondaire das Klassenklima besser als Schüler des Secondaire technique und des Modulaire. Rund 12 % der Schüler bewerten die Qualität der Familienkommunikation im mittleren Bereich (3) und 5 % vergeben niedrige Bewertungen (1 oder 2). Knapp 8 % geben an, nicht fernzusehen, weitere 19 % schauen eine halbe Stunde fern. 57 % schauen 2 Stunden oder mehr fern, was als häufiger TV-Konsum definiert wird. Bei Schülern im Alter von 13-18 ist häufiger TV-Konsum weiter verbreitet als bei Schülern im Alter von 11-12. Des Weiteren ist häufiger TV-Konsum verbreiteter bei Schülern des Secondaire technique als bei Schülern des Fondamental sowie des Secondaire. Schüler, die davon ausgehen, dass ihre Lehrer sie für leistungsschwach halten, schauen häufiger Fernsehen als Schüler, die denken, dass ihre Lehrer sie für überdurchschnittlich leistungsfähig halten.
