Familienangehörige sind die wichtigsten informellen Pflegepersonen alter Menschen. Bisherige Forschung hat v.a. aus stress-theoretischer Sicht die Belastungen und deren negative Folgen für die Gesundheit der Pflegenden thematisiert. Stress-theoretische Ansätze können aber die inzwischen gut dokumentierten positiven Erfahrungen und Entwicklungsgewinne pflegender Angehöriger nur unzureichend erklären. Der vorliegende Beitrag untersucht die weitergehenden heuristischen Vorzüge einer entwicklungspsychologischen Sicht. Methoden: Literaturrecherchen. Analyse der Situation pflegender Angehöriger mit Kernkonzepten der Lebensspannen-Entwicklungspsychologie (z.B. kritische Lebensereignisse, Entwicklungsziele, intentionale Selbstentwicklung). Ergebnisse: Eine entwicklungspsychologische Sicht erschließt (1) negative, positive und als ambivalent erlebte Aspekte des Pflegens, auch als Funktion von Alter und Phase im Lebenslauf, (2) wie die facettenreiche Pflegesituation diverse Wünsche und Ziele pflegender Angehöriger bzgl. eigener Entwicklung und der der Gepflegten teils frustriert, teils erfüllt, und wie daraus Emotionen und Handlungsbereitschaften erwachsen, (3) wie sich Wünsche, Ziele, Kompetenzen und Persönlichkeitsmerkmale pflegender Angehöriger durch Pflegeerfahrungen weiterentwickeln. Schlussfolgerungen: Kernkonzepte der Entwicklungspsychologie der Lebensspanne erlauben eine umfassendere Analyse der Situation pflegender Angehöriger als bisher und versprechen weitere Fortschritte. Interdisciplinary product development is faced with the collaboration of diverse roles and a multitude of interrelated artifacts. Traditional and sequential process models cannot deal with the long-lasting and dynamic behavior of the development processes of today. Moreover, development processes have to be tailored to the needs of the projects, which are usually distributed today. Thus, keeping these projects on track from a methodology point of view is difficult. In order to deal with these challenges, this paper will present a novel method engineering and enactment approach. It combines the ideas of workflow technologies and product line engineering for method engineering as well as agent technology for the development process enactment. [less ▲]

Given the current call for interdisciplinarity, we reflect on pragmatic methodological implementations of collaborative research – by drawing on empirical evidence from two large-scale cross-disciplinary research projects and by theoretically framing them in trilingual contexts (German, French, and English). These are two major innovations compared to the existing body of literature in this domain. Our empirical analysis shows that multi-, inter- or trans-disciplinary collaboration is an oscillating process along a spectrum of cross-disciplinarity – spanning additive, converging and synthesizing work patterns, i.e. multi-, inter-, and transdisciplinarity. Such an umbrella-term avoids the common amalgamation of ‘interdisciplinarity’ as the overarching category (cross-disciplinarity of whatever form) and one of the relevant subcategories (the specific work form that a research team chooses). Concretely, if the majority of methods are developed through communal negotiation processes, then a truly interdisciplinary analysis of research results can only be guaranteed through recursive self-reflexive loops. Initial research questions may still be additive and interactions can oscillate during the project process between addition und tentative convergence. We label this process situative interdisciplinarity. Multi-, inter- and transdisciplinarity are thus subsumed as a processual entity: flexible, possibly hybrid subforms of cross-disciplinarity. It needs constant reactivation, framing, timing and mediation by project managers. The major challenge lies in the collaborative transfer of concepts, theories, methods and research subjects. This transfer requires translation, explication and transposition of the various disciplinary ‘languages’ and can only be converged in an open-minded, team-oriented and reflexive work environment. Background: Pharmacological treatment options for adolescents with obesity are very limited. Glucagon-like-peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor-agonist could be a treatment option for adolescent obesity. Objective: To investigate the effect of exenatide extended-release on body-mass-index (BMI)- SDS as primary outcome, and glucose-metabolism, cardiometabolic risk factors liver steatosis, and other BMI metrics as secondary outcomes, and its safety and tolerability in adolescents with obesity. Methods: Six-months, randomized, double-blinded, parallel, placebo-controlled clinical trial in patients (n=44, 10-18 years, females n=22) with BMI-SDS>2.0 or age-adapted-BMI>30 kg/m² according to WHO were included. Patients received lifestyle intervention and were randomized to exenatide extended-release 2 mg (n=22) or placebo (n=22) sub-cutaneousinjections given once weekly. Oral-glucose-tolerance-tests (OGTT) were conducted at the beginning and end of the intervention. Results: Exenatide reduced (p<0.05) BMI-SDS (-0.09; -0.18, 0.00), % BMI 95th percentile (- 2.9%; -5.4, -0.3), weight (-3 kg; -5.8, -0.1), waist circumference (-3.2 cm; -5.8, -0.7), subcutaneous adipose tissue (-552 cm3; -989, -114), 2-hour-glucose during OGTT (-15.3 mg/dL; -27.5, -3.1), total cholesterol (11.6 mg/dL; -21.7, -1.5) and BMI (-0.83 kg/m²; -1.68, 0.01) without significant change in liver fat content (-1.36; -3.12, 0.4; p=0.06) in comparison to placebo. Safety and tolerability profiles were comparable to placebo with the exception of mild adverse events being more frequent in exenatide-treated patients. Conclusions: Treatment of adolescents with severe obesity with extended-release exenatide is generally well tolerated and leads to a modest reduction in BMI metrics and improvement in glucose tolerance and cholesterol. The study indicates that the treatment provides additional beneficial effects beyond BMI-reduction for the patient group. [less ▲]

In this thesis, I suggest new ways of grasping the affective dimension of musical experience that which traditional semiotics and musicology take little into account. Inspired by a dynamistic modelling approach –which developed from the 1960s and since then has been influential in the domain of semiolinguistic disciplines–, I sketch out the fluctuating phases of semiogenesis within the field of piano masterclasses. The term ‘semiogenesis’ here, is taken in a broad sense, encompassing any deployment of sign-forms, either vague or articulated, diffused or well-defined. Such forms are conceived as being strained between expressiveness and normativity. They are also valorized in that they call the subject to participate in his or her own ‘lines of life’ which, in turn, may come to exist by those forms. A piano masterclass is given by a genuine master to highly accomplished students, both who truly testify to their own lives, to their own ways of ethical feeling, in the search for a unique musical praxis. In recent years, the field of masterclass has begun to attract the attention of the scientific community, especially in areas related to musical teaching and experience, such as psychology, aesthetics and epistemology or even sociology. Yet it is still suboptimal that most of the problems adopted in these frameworks incorporate nothing or so little in terms of the metamorphosis of sensitivity and the play of musical feeling in the characterization of their research objects. Nevertheless, the field of piano masterclass seems to be a particularly interesting and promising object of research in that the horizon of affect is preeminent in all the semiotic activities tied to it. Thus, I have attended several masterclasses in order to closely follow the praxis of the musicians (e.g., active and passive participation in masterclasses, audiovisual recordings, interviews, conversations and debates on music, etc.), in the spirit of making all its genetic depth to the semiotic activity, by approaching it under the perspective of an encountering and an orientation of musical sensibilities. One of the main tasks of my approach in the designing of the descriptions of this particular musical praxis consists in understanding the acoustic, gestural and linguistic phenomena, as giving birth to semiogenetic conditions of the constitution of a musical meaning. In this way, it is a fundamentally descriptive method, inspired by philosophical (Shaftesbury, Kierkegaard, Wittgenstein, Merleau-Ponty) and semiotic (Peirce, Saussure) minds, which joins the semiotic preoccupation from the very initial levels of a microgenesis, and by promoting it immediately into a hermeneutical and existential phenomenology. The perceptive and semiogenetic issues of musical sensitivity allow us to remodel the notion of a musical motive, understood both as a motive-of-praxis and as an existential-motive. I tried to grasp the idea of a certain listening of the musical praxis by finding there a constant passage between an ethical perception, and the search –through the playing of the music and its motives–, for a musical personality engaged in the musical praxis. Such conceptions on motive and personality proved to be fruitful to the extent that they make it possible to suggest a certain ethic of musical feeling, without reducing it to a skill, a psychology or a ritual. I have thus managed to redefine the notion of a musical ‘sign’ by playing up on the 'motival' horizon of this semiotic activity, understood – in the formal and sensitive nature of musical practices– as participation (i.e., desire and commitment to participate) to a certain regime of human existence. In this way, I believe to be paving the way for a new conception of musical praxis, which interweaves aesthetics and ethics. The thesis thus addresses these problems by casting six successive contemplations on it: Piano Masterclass; Feeling, Knowing and Doing; Field and Form; Motive and Form; Lines of Life; Enchantment. Multiple immunofluorescent staining is a powerful strategy for visualizing the spatial and temporal relationship between antigens, cell populations, and tissue components in histological sections. To segment different cell populations from the multicolor image generated by immunostaining based on color addition theory, a systems approach is proposed for automatic segmentation of six colors. After image acquisition and processing, images are automatically segmented with the proposed approach and six-pseudo channels for individual or colocalized fluorescent dye are generated to distinguish different cell types. The principle of this approach is the classification of each pixel into one of six colors (red, green, blue, yellow, magenta, and cyan) by choosing the minimal angular deviation between the RGB vector of the given pixel and six classically defined edge vectors. In the present infection studies of Listeria monocytogenes, the new multicolor staining methods based on the color addition were applied and the proposed color segmentation was performed for multicolor analysis. Multicolor analysis was accomplished to study the migration and interaction of Listeria and different cell subpopulations such as CD4CD25 double positive T regulatory cells; we also visualized simultaneously the B cells, T cells, dendritic cells, macrophages, and Listeria in another experiment. After Listeria infection, ERTR9 macrophages and dendritic cells formed cluster with Listeria in the infection loci. The principle of color addition and the systems approach for segmentation may be widely applicable in infection and immunity studies requiring multicolor imaging and analysis. This approach can also be applied for image analysis in the multicolor in vivo imaging, multicolor FISH or karyotyping or other studies requiring multicolor analysis. [less ▲]

We compared French- and English-speaking fifth-grade (10-year-old) children's performance in number transcoding. Whereas English two-digit number names follow the decimal structure (base 10), the structure of French two-digit number words over 60 follow a vigesimal structure (base 20). Children undertook two number transcoding tasks. While children were generally successful at the tasks, English-speaking children significantly outperformed French-speaking children for numbers following a vigesimal structure in French compared to a decimal structure in English (i.e., numbers >60). Our findings show that verbal number name structures influence children's performance in numerical tasks, even though fifth-grade children have well passed the initial stage of acquiring transcoding skills for two-digit numbers. These findings highlight the importance of language specificities in children's number transcoding. Statement of contribution What is already known? Previous research reports that language influences number processing in young children. Number transcoding performances can be conditioned by the linguistic structure of number words. What does this study add? Our results show how the structure of French vigesimal number words impacts number transcoding. They demonstrate that these language influences also affect children who already master basic number competencies. [less ▲]
