Die Wirtschaftsgeschichte Eupen-Malmedys für die Zwischenkriegszeit ist wenig erforscht und eine vergleichende Wirtschaftsgeschichte für den deutschbelgisch-niederländischen Grenzraum fehlt bisher. Auch für wichtige Fragen stehen detaillierte Untersuchungen zu den Übergangsprozessen 1920 oder 1940, über die Auswirkungen der Weltwirtschaftskrise und die Kriegswirtschaft 1940-1944 noch aus. Wie aber können die vorhandenen Fakten und neue Quellen vor dem Hintergrund der großen ökonomischen Entwicklungslinien interpretiert werden? Welche neuen Fragen stellen sich? While Civil law is traditionally based on equality between contractors, Consumer protection Law was built around the notion of unbalanced contractual relationship, the consumer being the weaker party. This study revolves around limitation periods and foreclosure, known to be Civil law mechanisms, and their use and reception by Consumer Law. Is the two year period granted to the professional to seek specific performance likely to be interrupted ? Do negociations revolving around a purchased good’s hidden defects suspend the brief period granted to the consumer to claim for specific performance ? How does French Consumer Protection Law allocate late payment of debts that have been extinguished by the statute of limitations ? This study consists in systematic analyses of available litigations obtained through courts' Open data. It aims to highlight phenomena such as rules resumption, rules adjustment or rules creation through the problematic of unbalanced, B to C, contractual relationships. Three sights were fixed for this purpose : - demonstrating how inadequate Civil Law, Consumer Law and Commercial Law are considering the contractual unbalances inherent to B to C relationships, through some examples of mass litigations (nature of the statute of limitations, commencement date of the limitation period, causes for interruption and suspension of the limitation period, court’s function) ; - highlighting the lack of strong, unchanging jurisprudence on the subject, at the expense of legal safety and legal rules quality ; - offering a new, rational model of limitation period for Consumer Law, taking into account the very specific problematics of each parties. The result of the above study could provide the basis for a reflection on a new Consumer legislation. [less ▲]

This article shows how the figure of the Continuum can describe pluralities not only in the realm of sex/gender, but also in that of migration, space, border, culture, and time using the four dimensions of the Continuum: physical/body/matter – psychological/feeling/experience –social/behaviour/doing – sexual/sexual orientation/desire. In the first part of the article the figure of the Continuum will be described in its origination and summarised in its application to the concepts of gender and migration. The second part of the article will shine a first light on the application of the figure of the Continuum to the concepts of space, border, culture, and time. The article considers the question of the dissolution of binarities by the figure of the Continuum, as well as the question of the meanings and consequences of categorial systems of order. The musings of the article result in the notion that a more wide-spread application of the figure of the Continuum could inspire a new, broader humanism, and thus be understood as a basis for further reflections working towards an overstepping of post- and transhumanistic approaches. CuInS-based solar cells suffer from a low open circuit voltage. Absorbers grown under both Cu-excess and Cudeficiency have been used to fabricate record efficiency photovoltaic cells. In this work, we present the influence of stoichiometry on the quality of absorbers by means of calibrated room temperature photoluminescence and quasi Fermi level splitting evaluation (qFLs). Deep defects-related photoluminescence decreases using higher Cu/In ratio, leading to a corresponding improvement in qFLs, with values above 900 meV for high copper rich absorbers. © 2018 IEEE. European Economic and Monetary Union (EMU) involves several core principles for the organization of participating national central banks (NCBs / CBs), including their independence from political institutions. Early studies show that the level of national parliamentary scrutiny over euro area NCBs varied (Lepper and Sterne 2002). In this context, our article examines the extent to which parliaments make use of four distinct control mechanisms to hold CBs accountable. We explain the very different levels of parliamentary scrutiny over NCBs in Germany, France and Belgium during the 2013-2016 period. We find that the level of scrutiny depends principally on the presence of a longstanding tradition of CB independence — and specifically the manner in which independence has been politicized and interpreted by the political class. We argue that the strength of the parliament can also explain some variation. [less ▲]

We study the question if we can recover original traders’ price expectations in experimental asset markets if subjects receive the same pre-recorded information. Our results show reliable recovery of original traders’ median expectations across treatments. Treatment comparison suggests no effect on beliefs of subjects’ action space, whether subjects trade, act as price takers or only observe the market. Our results also suggest that we are unable to recover the individual expectations beyond the median expectation. Hence, we confirm the advanced observation of the experimental literature that expectations are heterogeneous and markets do not homogenize beliefs. [less ▲]
