The paper reports our practical research efforts and experience in specifying REACT framework in the context of software product line engineering, striving to incorporate dependability into the system requirements. We present an requirements specification derived from the REACT and discuss how REACT-based applications can be implemented in the context of service-oriented architecture. Dependability policies configuration capabilities were incorporated to enable developers to control the behaviour of the systems facing certain threats and failures. We discuss a Car Crash Management System as a case study of REACT-based project. [less ▲]

Currently, the different forms of corporate management methods (quality circles, lean manufacturing, etc.) are usually based on employee mobilisation. Very often, the goal of this type of approach is at best, to ensure that employees embrace corporate projects, or otherwise to impose changes on them without taking into account the real work and difficulties that they face daily. However, do these employee solicitation methods converge with participatory approaches as envisaged by ergonomists and more generally, preventionists? Based on the observation that the activity of institutional preventionists evolves with regulatory constraints and work related to the monitoring of indicators, the implementation and steering of the participatory approach within companies may be a major lever for prevention. After describing the foundations of a participatory approach, this paper will present a training experiment aimed at implementing and promoting employee participation in prevention efforts. The content of this training is then analysed with regard to the balance between methodology and the use of trainees’ narratives. The results of the training session are presented from the point of view of the development prospects for pedagogical tools and the organisation of the training. [less ▲]

This paper presents a strategy based on fault diagnosability maximization to optimally locate sensors in complex systems. The goal is to characterize and determine a sensor configuration that guarantees a maximum degree of diagnosability and does not exceed a maximum sensor configuration cost. The strategy is based on the structural system model. Structural analysis is a powerful tool for dealing with complex nonlinear systems. The proposed approach is successfully applied to a Fuel Cell Stack System. [less ▲]

The success of any diagnosis strategy critically depends on the sensors measuring process variables. This paper presents a strategy based on diagnosability maximization for optimally locating sensors in distribution networks. The goal is to characterize and determine the set of sensors that guarantees a maximum degree of diagnosability taking into account a given sensor configuration cardinality constraint. The strategy is based on the structural model of the system under consideration. Structural analysis is a powerful tool for determining diagnosis possibilities and evaluating whether the number and the location of sensors are adequate in order to meet some diagnosis specifications. The proposed approach is successfully applied to leakage detection in a Drinking Water Distribution Network. [less ▲]
