On the basis of Elfriede Jelinek's theatre text Charges (The Supplicants) and taking as a starting point interaction between social and aesthetic drama as well as the social and political function of literature, this paper analyses the performativity and the potentiality of the means of production and reception of texts in current media. An examination of the latter provides not only the technological contexts for communication and possibilities of the related period of production but also the inter- dependence of formal, structural and media transformations of the literary and theatrical production. This contribution deals first with some manifestations of the migration's dilemma. Outgoing from the reality constituting capacity and character of speech and discourse, this analysis focuses then on the performative and discursive construction of reality. Besides, this contribution analyses the con- structed character and the contrast between African's and European's perception of migration through reading and watching e.g. news and / or plays. This contribution analyzes Aristotle’s influence on the modern understanding of theater (based on the concept of the drama script) as a restriction and reduction of the potentiality of theater. Therefore, it presents a comparative analysis of the objectives of the antique theatrical practices around the 6th and 5th centuries B.C. (before Aristotle) and Schlingensief’s “Action 18, Kill Politic” (2002). It provides also a transcultural examination that helps explain the meaning of the postdramatic transgression of taboos, its productive aesthetics of risk, and its social and political potentiality. Thus, the performance “Action 18, Kill Politic” is analyzed as a process-oriented and experience-based aesthetic of risk as well as a ‘social drama’ in everyday life. [less ▲]

This contribution argues that Schlingensief´s art project Container staged in 2000 in Vienna can be read as a countercultural unbordering due to its postdramatic theatrical setting. First, an overview of social criticism in theatre, both in terms of form and content, from the Age of Enlightenment to the 1960s demonstrates that Schlingensief´s art project Container can well be located within the theatrical tradition leaning towards social criticism. This is followed by an analysis of Schlingen-sief´s Container in relation to the socio-political context at the time. Finally, this contribution shows how artistic countercultural events as part of postdramatic theatre are inextricably linked to the unbordering of the theatrical setting. [less ▲]
