[more ▼] The map shows the distribution of the surname Glesener / Glaser / Glasmacher in the Greater Region SaarLorLux. It is an example of the results of the FNR project "Luxemburgischer Familiennamenatlas". The Lorraine region has not yet been studied. The aim of the "Luxemburgischer Familiennamenatlas" (LFA) is to document the distribution of surnames in Luxembourg and neighbouring regions, in order to draw possible conclusions about the history of language and settlement and about historical language contact phenomena. The study also attempts to determine which surnames are typical for Luxembourg and, if applicable, how these names differ from those of the other regions studied.
