Founded on the initiative of Father Brocquart, with the support of Governor Berlaymont, the chapel of Our Lady, Consoler of the Afflicted, became in the space of only a few years, the shrine of the Lady, Consoler of the Afflicted, has become, in the space of a few years, the most visited shrine in the the most visited shrine in the region. Its influence was such that the cult was exported to the regions bordering the duchy. In 1626, the miraculous healing of Jacques Brocquart, who was suffering from the plague, caused such a stir that pilgrims flocked from the four corners of the duchy to ask for a divine favour, even before the chapel was completed. The aim of the map is to highlight the spatial dimension of the reports on the miracles of Notre Dame de Luxembourg during the first half of the 17th century. [less ▲]

Die Karte zeigt die räumliche Ausbreitung der Berichte über Wunderheilungen durch Unsere Liebe Frau von Luxemburg in der ersten Hälfte des 17. Jahrhunderts. Nach der Begründung des Kults durch den Jesuitenpater Jacques Brocquart 1624 kamen die Pilger von immer weiter her, um sich eine göttliche Gnade zu erbitten und machten die Kapelle so zu einem regionalen Pilgerzentrum.
