Le volume se veut un hommage à Georges Wirtgen, docteur en psychologie, directeur honoraire de l'ISERP, président du Conseil permanent de la langue luxembourgeoise et président-fondateur honoraire du CESIJE (Centre d'études sur la situation des jeunes en Europe asbl). Le projet réunit en tant que contributeurs les disciples, collègues et amis de Georges Wirtgen qu'il a côtoyés dans les différents domaines de ses activités professionnelles et scientifiques. "Savoirs et engagements" représente un document important donnant un regard original sur le paysage de la recherche et de l'enseignement supérieur et universitaire au Luxembourg. Il met notamment l'accent sur l'importance d'une osmose entre savoirs et engagements qui doit se faire dans l'intérêt de l'environnement social direct de l'Université. [less ▲]

Grounded Theory Methodology (GTM) coding procedures are the topic of the current contribution. The article aims at improving coding practice and at making explicit different aspects underpinning GTM. Special emphasis is placed on linking both the dialogue with data and the development of a storyline. The starting point is a general description of coding, followed by a discussion of the different stages of coding (open, axial/theoretical and selective coding) and the conclusion puts forward the idea of a reflective-interpretive handling of GTM. Over the past decade there has been increasing interest in the relationships between youth policy making, youth research and practice with and by young people. Sometimes referred to as the ‘magic triangle’ that has the potential to strengthen all corners if there are effective lines of communication and dialogue, there are also reservations about the connections between the ‘corners’. The interest in ‘evidence-based practice’, for example, is not always matched by a commitment to ‘practice-based evidence’. This book, drawing on contributions at an EU seminar during the Luxembourg presidency, debates the links between research, policy and practice, and their roles in knowledge production, analysis and dissemination as the engine for more effective and relevant youth policy in Europe. Dieser erste Band in der Reihe "ScientiPHIc" enthält eine Untersuchung über Jugendliche im öffentlichen städtischen Raum. Ausgangspunkte sind stadtsoziologische, sozialisations- und organisationstheoretische Ansätze. Die Datengrundlage der Studie stammt aus dem Projekt "Streetwork – Jugendliche im städtischen Raum", das in den Jahren 2001-2003 im Auftrag der Stadt Luxemburg und des Familienministeriums vom CESIJE mit der Unterstützung von Caritas Jeunes et Familles und InterActions durchgeführt worden ist. Das Projekt dokumentiert, wie sozialwissenschaftliche Forschung im Dialog mit Experten und Betroffenen dazu beitragen kann, politischen Handlungsbedarf zu identifizieren und gesellschaftliche Gestaltungsperspektiven zu öffnen. Entwickelt wird das Bild einer vernetzten Jugendsozialarbeit, die sich im Wesentlichen als multimodale Hilfeleistung für gefährdete Jugendliche versteht. [less ▲]
