[en] coal ; energy
[en] Since centuries, coal is one of the most important energy-sources of the world. The successive phase-out of coal mining in Western Europe implies not, that coal also loses their important role as energy-supplier. Local coal is just substituted by cheaper imported coal. Similarly, although three decades later, development in Eastern Europe occurs. In global scale, in the past years coal was the fastest growing energy source. The reserves of coal exceed those of other conventional energy sources by far. The future development of coal use depends mostly on the question if it works, to decrease the notably high, climate affecting CO2-output of the coal-fueled power generation by the development of clean-coal-technologies.
